DANES STREAM

This stream rises near Bashley and enters the sea via Sturt Pond at Milford on Sea. It is accessible by way of a public footpath for most of its length.

The Danes stream is interesting ecologically in that it suffers urban run-off but still manages to hold a head of sea trout, some quite large. It has mayflies too, which delight the local brown trout.

So, you can both fly fish for trout and, in the evenings and early morning try for the elusive sea trout. During the hot summer months you’ll find both brown trout and sea trout hiding in the deep pools to avoid the worst of the hot weather.
