The river does not lend itself to classic chalk stream fishing techniques but is an interesting mixed fishery, particularly for spring time brown trout and targeting back- end sea trout.  

What does this mean in practice?  The best kind of fishing: no manicured banks, no expensive day rates and wild fish to cast for - just you and your rod seeing what you can scare up from this small, delightful stream.  

 

Doubtless, you’ll be doing a lot of nymphing while you explore for trout in the early summer months.  However, return to the same beats in the early and mid autumn and search for sea trout.  Look for deeper pools and/or sections which are heavily shaded by tree cover.  You might be surprised...and delighted.
